Graduation needs information, information gives orientation!

Introduction

In the tradition of Wu Ji Quan and Qi Gong, the focus has always been on the transmission of knowledge and the intensive training of students. Master Chee Kim Thong, with his unique approach, emphasised the importance of practice and the adaptation to individual capacities. Today, we continue this philosophy with a structured and open system that allows everyone to develop at their own pace.

The Philosophy of Master Chee Kim Thong

From my personal perspective, Master Chee Kim Thong did not want to waste any time. He aimed to convey as much information and teachings as possible to us in the remaining years and train us intensively so that we could absorb, process, and understand the incredible amount of forms, exercises, and information. He often said: “Just practice, and you will see!” In the eighties and nineties, knowing that his time was limited, when with us, he did not spend time or emphasise on special graduations or traditional rankings, exams, etc. With the help of his incredibly patient senior master students, he managed to teach each individual and the entire group, which was composed differently each year, as he saw fit. This ensured that the knowledge was well distributed and integrated by each learner. It was part of his special skill to deviate from classical, highly schooled teaching methods and adapt to our circumstances and different capacities. Otherwise, it would not have been possible to absorb this incredible amount of forms, exercises, and training.

The Importance of Structure and Progression in Internal Arts

Today, we live in different times. To quote Sifu Yap Boh Hoeng about Qi Development: Nei Gong and inner power “it’s needed to have a road map“ !
Especially in internal arts like Wu Ji Quan and Qi Gong, it is important to have a good structure and a comprehensible progression. This allows students who wish to become certified instructors themselves without worrying about details such as ranks, belts, and the associated competition, jealousy, and performance pressure. These factors are diametrically opposed to the beneficial effects of the exercises on health and well-being and ultimately weaken and block the art.

The Open System and Its Benefits

Therefore, I prefer an open system based on a standard basic system that is based on feedback and regular peer reviews. In this system, everyone can find their way and develop individually, regardless of their level. Beginners and advanced students can communicate, practice, and help each other on their journey. This applies to all my offerings in the future. Even for beginners who start with the online offering, there are regular Zoom advanced training sessions (Wu Ji Labs, 12 Step Labs) for further deepening on the same basis.
This systematic approach will be rolled out soon here step by step but especially for the first and second set of Wu Ji Quan as well for the 12 step daily and complete programs.
